Last year the Punjab government conducted and made publicly available census of private schools across the province for the first time. CIRP has compared results of census of public schools with the census of private schools. Below are some interesting insights gained from the official data.
Lahore, the provincial metropolis, sits on top among all the 36 districts vis-à-vis the number of private schools while district Rahim Yar Khan has maximum number of public schools. However in terms of percentage, maximum public schools as compared to private schools are in district Layyah.
And when it comes to the year of establishment of schools, data shows the private sector outperformed the government in this regard particularly after 2006. Click on dots to see the numbers.
